Future Projects

Heritage Europe has been invited to be a partner in several European projects which have been submitted to the EU for funding, and if successful they will start in 2012:-

Histcape – An Interreg IVC project focussing on small historic towns in dispersed rural areas and the preservation of rural historic assets.

ENCLOSE – Under the IEE ( Intelligent Energy Europe) programme this project looks at energy efficient transport and logistics in medium sized historic towns.

PERHT – this project comes under the LIFE + 2011 programme “Environmental Policy and Governance”. Aimed at small to medium sized historic towns it aims to look at issues related to transport (people and goods) and mobility in their historic urban centres.

Current Projects

HerO

The theme of this project funded by URBACT is to develop integrated sustainable management strategies for historic urban landscapes and innovative good practice to facilitate the right balance between preserving cultural heritage and strengthening the competiveness of historic urban landscapes. Heritage Europe (EAHTR) was a partner in this project led by Regensburg, a World Heritage City in southern Germany, with 9 other heritage cities: Graz, Austria; Naples, Italy; Vilnius. Lithuania; Sighisoara, Romania; Liverpool, UK; Lublin, Poland; Poitiers, France; Valencia, Spain and Valletta, Malta.

The final conference of this URBACT II Fast Track project was held in Regensburg 13 – 14 April 2011. More than 80 participants from over 10 European countries took part in the event hosted by the lead partner city of Regensburg.

PORTICO

'PORTICO' is an international cooperation project between the cities of Chester (UK), Gent (BE), Köln (DE), Utrecht (NL) and the Initiatief Domplein foundation in Utrecht. It aims to look at the partner cities' archaeological heritage by developing new methods, techniques and ways of thinking about urban development – above and below ground. The project is supported by the INTERREG IVB program.

V-MUST (Virtual Museum Transnational Network)

The V-Must network enables heritage professionals to connect, collaborate and advance the development and use of virtual museums. The project is part funded under the EU Seventh framework Programme FP7.
