About EAHTR

What is it?
The European Association of Historic Towns and Regions (EAHTR) is an
organisation, formed by the Council of Europe in 1999. Its aim is to
promote the interests of historic and heritage towns across Europe.
EAHTR’s principle objective is to identify and share experience and good
practice in the sustainable urban conservation and management of historic
areas through international collaboration and co-operation between towns and
cities and other involved organisations.

Constitution

Bureau and Secretariat
The EAHTR is governed by a General Assembly which all members are entitled
to attend and an elected Bureau. The organisation is managed by its secretariat,
led by the Secretary General. Details of the Bureau and Secretariat are attached.

How to Join
The constitution of EAHTR provides for 3 categories of paying members. These
are
- Full membership – Associations of Historic Towns and Individual Historic
Towns, Cities and Regions
- Associate Membership – relevant organisations, companies
educational/professional Institutes and Universities
- Personal Membership – Interested individuals including honorary personal membership
